Asia Factual Forum Presents Session with Director Ruby Yang

SINGAPORE, November 21:
The inaugural Asia Factual Forum, held at the River View Hotel in Singapore
from November 25 to 27, will close with a special “Close Up With Ruby Yang”
session, accompanied by a screening of the director’s award-winning
documentary, The Blood of Yingzhou District.

will be screened during a
special benefit for Asia Factual Forum participants and organizers at 7 p.m. on
November 26, followed by a reception honoring Yang. Craig Thompson, the
executive producer of the Asia Factual Forum and president of Ballinran
Productions, will interview the director on Tuesday, November 27, wrapping up
the three-day event.

Yang, originally from Hong
Kong, has worked as both director and editor on a wide range of feature and
documentary films exploring Chinese themes. Her film The Blood of Yingzhou
District
chronicles the effect of
AIDS on orphans in China’s Yingzhou District, as the children face traditional
Chinese obligations to their family and villages while battling with their
infection. Other titles to her credit include Bill Moyer’s PBS series Becoming
American: The Chinese Experience
, Julia's
Story
, China 21, Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl and Citizen Hong Kong, among
many others.

The Asia Factual Forum is
a co-production of Canada production company Ballinran Productions, the Media
Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and Singapore’s Association of
Independent Producers (AIPRO). It provides informative sessions and networking
opportunities for those specializing in the development, production and
distribution of factual programming for the global television industry.
