AOL True Stories Premieres Doc on Suicide Bombers

DULLES, February 1: AOL True
Stories, AOL’s recently launched website for documentary films, today premiered
the award-winning film The Making of a Martyr, about child suicide bombers.

The Making of a Martyr examines the implications and consequences of the use
of child suicide bombers in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It follows the
story of 15-year-old Hussam Abdu, who was apprehended on March 24, 2004, at an
Israeli border checkpoint with live explosives strapped around his waist.
Instead of detonating the bomb, Abdu voluntarily gave himself up to the Israeli
army and is now serving time in prison.

Users have the option of
watching the film for free via streaming video, downloading the film ad-free
for $9.99 or purchasing the DVD. The website also features never-before-seen
extra scenes. Visitors to the site can also read and comment on the movie’s
blog, which features posts by the film’s director and producer, Brooke
Goldstein.

The Making of a Martyr won the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the
2006 UN Documentary Film Festival, and has been an official selection at
various film festivals throughout the world.
