Animax Launches in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, August 30: Sony Pictures Television
International’s Animax channel launches as a full 24/7 service in Malaysia
tomorrow on pay-TV platform Astro, reaching more than 1.9 million subscribers.

As part of the channel’s expansion plans in Asia, Animax
will upgrade from a time-block to a full service channel. The animation service
will broadcast in both English and original Japanese language, with Bahasa
Malaysia subtitles during prime time (6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.)

To boost the brand in the Malaysian market, Animax is
planning a local edition of Imagine-Nation,
which features successful people in the arenas of games, film and design. Other
programming on Animax includes Ghost in the
Shell, Blood+, Paradise Kiss and Dragon Ball.
