SILVER SPRING: Animal Planet has commissioned Darlow Smithson Productions for a three-part mini-series that features real-life horror stories of people plagued by infestations.

Infested! features dangerous, deadly, weird and bizarre true stories of households nearly destroyed by creatures such as mice, scorpions, spiders, bedbugs, rats, roaches, raccoons, snakes, etc. Each story is bolstered by macro-lens photography and recreations, which gets up close and personal with these squatters.

The series will be represented internationally by Endemol Worldwide Distribution.

“We’re delighted to grow our partnership with Darlow Smithson on Infested!," said Marjorie Kaplan, the president and general manager of Animal Planet. "They’ve done a terrific job on the intense and intimate stories of people who have confronted their mortality out in the wild with I Shouldn’t Be Alive. And we know audiences won’t be able to turn away from Infested! because of Darlow’s incredible knack for making viewers feel as though they’re sharing the nightmares with these accidental victims of nature—this time in the relative safety of their own homes.”

“Delivering compelling human interest stories that resonate with mass audiences is what we strive for, and we have unearthed an incredibly rich seam with this series. The infestations we will feature are so shocking the audience will not believe their eyes,” added Tom Brisley, creative director and executive producer at Darlow Smithson Productions.

“Your house is your refuge, but when these creatures take hold, your home becomes their home, and that’s where the battle begins,” commented Nick Metcalfe, series producer at Darlow Smithson Productions.
