AMC/Sundance Channel Global Bulks Up Acquired Slate

CANNES/NEW YORK: The newly acquired series Weeds, Damages, The Straits and The Slap join a raft of independent films in the lineup of AMC/Sundance Channel Global. 

Weeds was picked up for Sundance Channel in France and French Benelux from Lionsgate. The agreement includes seasons one through four. Damages is headed to Sundance Channel in Spain and Portugal, via a deal with Sony Pictures Television. This covers seasons one through five. The Straits is headed to Sundance Channel in Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, France, Benelux and select Asian territories in the premiere window through a deal with DCD Rights. The Slap, also from DCD Rights, gets a premiere on Sundance Channel in Dutch Benelux. This agreement builds on the channel’s previously acquired rights for the program in Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Asia.

A number of films were also picked up, including Bellflower and Myth of the American Sleepover. The agreement sees more than 25 titles headed to Sundance Channel in Eastern Europe and Belgium in the premiere window.
