AFM Lines Up Seminars & Conferences

SANTA MONICA: At the American Film Market (AFM), panels will focus on film financing opportunities, local and international distribution trends, marketing strategies and digital technologies, with sessions that will include film executives, producers, writers, directors, distributors, financiers and attorneys. 

The annual AFM Finance Conference, which features two back-to-back sessions on the future of film financing, will take place Friday, November 6, while Pitch Me!, a session for filmmakers to pitch projects to industry experts, follows on Saturday, November 7. On Sunday, the session No Direction Home: Changing Indie Distribution Strategies looks at how traditional distribution models are collapsing and production choices are opening up.

Monday features Writing for the Genre World, about the role creativity plays in a genre film, and Case Study: How to Package and Finance Your Independent Project Overseas, giving an insider’s look at what it takes to put together an independent film with an international setting. The New Hollywood Movie Studio, New Media and Social Networking panel is on Tuesday, November 10. The seminar will identify and analyze the resources available to independent filmmakers on new-media and social-networking platforms.
