ABC Australia Renews Dance Academy

SYDNEY: Dance Academy, a live-action kids’ drama represented worldwide by ZDF Enterprises, has been renewed for a second season on ABC1 and ABC3.

Production on the new 26×30-minute episodes will begin in Sydney at the end of January 2011. Joanna Werner (Werner Film Productions) will return as producer of the show, which focuses on Tara Webster, a student at the National Academy of Dance.

ABC TV Children’s head of commissioning and development, Carla De Jong, noted, "The massive success of Dance Academy on air and online has proved a strong connection with our audience. Dance Academy is the highest rated drama on ABC3 and has become a channel defining brand for us.”
