WBITD Forms New Intl. Production Unit

BURBANK: Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD) has set up a new international production unit, which will focus on establishing outlets in major territories that will create locally produced versions of the studio’s shows as well as develop original content.

The new unit will work to form operating production companies around the world to focus on creating locally produced versions of programs owned by the studio and to develop original local programming on a market-by-market basis. Ronald Goes takes on the role of executive VP and head of international television production for WBITD to head up the newly formed group. He will relocate from the Netherlands to be based in the U.K. and will report to Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, the president of Warner Bros. International Television.

Goes is tasked with conceptualizing, building and executing the international television production strategy for WBITD around the world. This includes setting up production companies in key territories, exploiting the studio’s scripted and nonscripted intellectual properties, identifying and acquiring international formats for acquisition and developing and producing new programming in local markets.

Most recently, Goes was a member of the supervisory board of RTL Nederland, after having been CEO of Talpa Media Holding. Prior to Talpa, Goes served four years as COO and a member of the executive board of directors of Endemol.
