SPTI Ups Romeu For Spanish Operations

LONDON, June 14: Sony Pictures
Television International (SPTI) has promoted Juan Maria Romeu to senior VP and
general manager of SPTI Networks Iberia, reporting to Ross Hair, the senior VP
of international networks at SPTI.

In his new role, Romeu will be
responsible for SPTI’s action and adventure channel AXN, which launched in
Spain in 1998 and is now available to over 4 million subscribers in Spain and
Portugal. He also manages operations for SPTI’s first-ever free-to-air channel,
Sony Entertainment Television (SET), which launched in Spain on digital
terrestrial television in September 2006. Romeu joined SPTI in 1998. Prior to
joining SPTI, Romeu served as the commercial director at Sogecable, the trade
marketing director at Digital+ and as the marketing director at CIC Video, the
home-entertainment venture between Paramount and Universal.
