Ovation to Premiere Heath Ledger Tribute

MELBOURNE/LOS ANGELES: Ovation TV has signed a deal with Australian production outfit World Wide Entertainment for the U.S. premiere rights to its one-hour documentary special on the life of the late actor Heath Ledger.

Heath Ledger: A Tribute is slated to premiere in August on Ovation TV as part of the network’s week-long programming event "Live Fast, Die Young," which focuses on talented artists—like Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean—who have died young but their legacy lives on.

“Ovation TV is renowned for their extensive library of biographies on some of the most famous, influential and revered artists, past and present,” said World Wide Entertainment’s managing director, Jonathan Hutchings. “World Wide Entertainment’s one-hour special on Heath Ledger is a perfect fit for Ovation TV as it provides an in-depth, fascinating review of the life story and personal and professional accomplishments of Ledger.”

“Throughout his short career, Heath Ledger seemed a star destined to burn brightly and leave a lasting mark,” commented Kris Slava, the senior VP of programming for Ovation TV. “This documentary is a warm, honest portrayal of the actor and the man, and features footage that has never been seen in America. We are pleased to be able to include it our week-long tribute to the talented stars we lost too soon.”
