SCI FI U.K. Adds to Spring Schedule

LONDON: Two new series are set to join SCI FI Channel’s lineup in the U.K. for the spring: NBC’s Knight Rider and FOX’s Dollhouse.

The first-run British pay-TV rights for Knight Rider were acquired from NBC Universal International Television Distribution, while Dollhouse, the new series from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, was picked up from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. Knight Rider is a follow-up to the 1980s hit, and features Val Kilmer as the voice of super-car K.I.T.T. In Dollhouse, which just debuted in the U.S. in February, the lives of an elite underground group of seductive operates are revealed. The agreement also includes the renewal of Whedon’s Buffy spin-off, Angel, seasons one through five.

Jon Farrar, the programming director for NBC Universal Global Networks (U.K.), said: "We’re dedicated to offering our audience the most exciting content available and are thrilled to become the U.K. home for two such highly anticipated series. Knight Rider and Dollhouse both hail from fine pedigrees, clearly reflected in their superior production values. The special effects in both series are genuinely show-stopping and likely to be the subject of many water-cooler moments for fans, who have the added choice of watching in either standard or high definition."
