Outright Lands Asian Deals

LONDON, December 3: In the
run-up to the Asia TV Forum, Outright Distribution has secured a number of
agreements with Asian broadcasters such as China's LIC.

LIC bought a package of
programs that includes Wall To Wall Productions' Beating Death, about the race to perform the world's first heart
transplant, and Against All Odds,
which looks at amazing stories of human survival. Worst Teeth, a Ricochet production that examines the scariest teeth
in Britain, and Touch Productions' Body
In Numbers
are also included in the deal.

In Korea, C4U Media picked
up Shed Media's Rock Rivals, the
drama set behind the scenes of a TV talent show. Animal Planet in Japan is in
negotiations to buy three seasons of the British series It's Me or the Dog. In Indonesia, Metro TV picked up seasons one
through three of Ricochet's Supernanny
U.S.
, while pan-Asian channel BBC Lifestyle bought seasons one through four
of Supernanny U.K.

Fox History and
Entertainment Channel in India has taken on Beating
Death
and the first season of Wall To Wall's Underworld Histories, which uncovers the netherworld of large
cities around the world. Also from Wall To Wall, Child Genius, which follows the lives of Britain's most gifted
children, went to ATV Hong Kong. As did Breaking
Into Tesco
, which gives British cooks a rare chance to get their best
dishes sold in a leading supermarket. Breaking
Into Tesco
has additionally been picked up by the pan-Southeast Asian
broadcaster Asian Food Channel.

Pan-Asian broadcaster AETN
All Asia Networks has taken on 12 episodes of Fulcrum TV's Can You Live Without…?, looking at how families cope without mobile
phones, television and other ostensibly essential items.

National Geographic Asia
snapped up Wall To Wall's The Genius of
Photography
, which highlights the key events and the key images in the
history of photography.

Leonora Teale, the sales
manager for Asia at Outright Distribution, said: "Although these deals
have meant a very hectic lead up to ATF for us, they are also a sure sign that
our catalogue of high-quality factual entertainment and specialist factual is
exactly what Asian broadcasters are after."
