Animal Planet Sees Double-Digit Growth in Australia

SINGAPORE, December 3:
Following Animal Planet's re-brand in October, the network has notched up a
72-percent growth in total day audience in Australia in the 25-to-54
demographic.

Animal Planet continued to grow in November,
posting double-digit growth for its prime-time audience in several other
markets in the region. Singapore achieved a 70-percent increase with the
25-to-54 set compared to September, while Hong Kong grew by 39 percent and
Australia by 36 percent. Malaysia, meanwhile, grew by 20 percent among the
20-plus demo. In Singapore, Animal
Planet's prime-time audience hit its highest for the year on November 18, more
than four times the average prior to the re-brand. Bite Nite: Mamba and The
Beauty Of Snakes
delivered
prime-time audiences more than eight times the slot average.

Tom Keaveny,
the executive VP and managing director of Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific,
said, "Animal Planet is celebrating a decade of broadcasting in
Asia-Pacific with a compelling new look and strengthened viewership that
attests to the appeal and quality of the brand. We're delighted that the
channel not only enjoys wide distribution across the region but also continues
to resonate strongly with viewers and attract increasingly substantial
audiences."

In addition to a refreshed logo and on-air graphics package, the re-branded
Animal Planet offers a variety of new programming such as
Ocean Voyagers, an HD production about the Humpback Whale narrated by
Meryl Streep.
