BBC Motion Gallery Signs Up Chinese Rep

LONDON, October 22: CITVC,
the commercial arm of China Central Television (CCTV), has struck a deal to
represent sales for BBC Motion Gallery, the footage-licensing division of BBC
Worldwide, to Chinese markets.

BBC Motion Gallery’s
archive content will be available via a local presence in CITVC’s sales
offices. The deal is the latest partnership between BBC Worldwide and the
Chinese state broadcaster, following a distribution deal sealed last April that
saw BBC Motion Gallery distributing CCTV clip footage globally.

Simon Gibbs, the managing
director of BBC Motion Gallery, said, “This deal is a great international step
for BBC Motion Gallery. Getting closer to non-English-speaking customers is an
important part of our global strategy, making the access to our archive a
seamless experience for all our customers. Having representatives on the ground
in China is further testament to our position as leading global moving-imagery
archive.”

Madame Cheng Chunli, the
marketing director general for CITVC, added, “We predict a very healthy demand
for BBC Motion Gallery’s extensive clip archive from broadcasters, ad agencies
and corporations in China. The success of our content partnership last year has
already proved to be very successful and we are delighted to be extending the
relationship.”
