KPI Develops Projects for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet

NEW YORK, September 3:
KPI, a unit of Lightworks Producing Group, has received commissions for two
global documentary projects, Extinction by Gladiator and Apocalypse Now, for Animal Planet and Discovery Channel,
respectively.

Extinction by Gladiator will debut on Animal Planet in December, while Apocalypse
How
will premiere on the Discovery
Channel in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The two-hour Extinction
by Gladiator
examines how exotic
animals were captured and forced to battle to the death with gladiators in the
Roman Empire.

“This special literally
involves lions, tigers and bears,” said Vinnie Kralyevich, the executive VP and
chief creative officer of KPI. “We do all the animal scenes in Vancouver, then
the gladiators and background scenes in Rome, Sicily and Tunisia. The challenge
is to precisely match the action of all the shoots.”

The two-hour Apocalypse
How
blends cutting-edge science
with time-shrouded prophecy in search of answers for how the world will end.
