MTV to Launch Online Music Drama

NEW YORK, August 22: MTV
New Media will explore the legendary music scene in Memphis, Tennessee, with
the online drama $5 Cover,
which was created by Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer.

The series will focus on
young artists who are working to make it big in the music industry. The 15
digital episodes will be available at fivedollarcover.com, mobile and gaming
devices and MP3 players.

Additionally, MTV will
share social-networking applications and other digital tools in between
episodes. MySpace and Facebook widgets created for $5 Cover will feed related content, including exclusive
music performances, video blogs and video tours of popular Memphis places.

“$5 Cover allows a talented filmmaker like Craig to use
technologies that change the way audiences consume and engage in content,” said
David Gale, the executive VP of MTV New Media. “Rather than using all the new
screens as simply additional distribution platforms, we are building an
entirely new interactive experience that makes connections between the audience
and content more meaningful."
