FME Scores New Raft of Sales

LONDON, July 2:
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has secured a host of international sales for
its music and entertainment programming and factual shows, totaling more than
700 hours of content.

The mature-women modeling
competition series She’s Got the Look sold into 18 territories, including the U.K., France, Italy,
Portugal, New Zealand and Thailand. In the Netherlands, SBS picked up both tape
and format rights.

Also in the reality genre,
Oprah’s Big Give sold to
broadcasters such as Kanal 5 in Sweden, Ten in Australia and NBC/Hallmark for
pan-Asia, for a total of 160-plus hours. SBS also picked up the canned and
format rights for the series.

DEA, which follows a group of special agents and
officers in the Drug Enforcement Administration, was sold into 11 territories,
covering 66 hours. Broadcasters include RTL Digital in Germany and BSkyB in the
U.K., among others.

Furthermore, all
territories in the Nordic region (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) have picked
up She’s Got the Look, Oprah’s
Big Give
and DEA.

The recently acquired
Travel Channel catalogue—Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, Andrew Zimmern’s Bizzare Foods and Sam Brown’s Passport to China—sold a total of 120 hours into six
territories, with RTL Germany and RAI Sat in Italy among the broadcasters
taking on the programs.

The Australian drama Satisfaction
continues to notch up its
international sales, with 180 hours sold in total to 18 territories, including
new sales to SIC in Portugal and SBS. The second season of the program is
currently in production.

FME’s CEO, David Ellender, commented: “We are very pleased with this substantial volume of new
sales. Not only does it show the strength of our acquisitions and their appeal
to international markets but also the reach of our sales force.”
