NBC Universal Taps Williams for Asia-Pacific Post

SINGAPORE, April 11: NBC
Universal has appointed Christopher Williams to the newly-created role of VP of
commercial and network development for Asia Pacific at its Global Networks
division, effective immediately.

Based in Singapore,
Williams will play a key leadership role in NBC Universal’s strategy to develop
new channel businesses in new territories across the Asia Pacific, working
closely with Raymund Miranda and his teams to build new businesses and enhance
NBC Universal Global Networks’ commercial relationships in the region. Williams
will report to Greg Matson in the U.K.

Prior to joining NBC
Universal Global Networks, Williams was the VP of business development,
distribution and digital media for Walt Disney Television Asia Pacific/Disney
ABC International Television, based in Hong Kong. There, he led all of Disney's
television business development activities, which included the rollout of Disney's
channels throughout the region over the last decade and more recently
spearheading their digital-media initiatives in the region. He was also the
acting channel manager for Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney Channel in Hong
Kong for the past two years. Williams has been involved with both analogue and
digital-media businesses across the Asia Pacific for the past 13 years.

NBC Universal has been
aggressively expanding its business in the Asia-Pacific region through its
Hallmark Channels as well as the recent rollouts of both SCI FI Channel in
Japan and the launch into five markets of KidsCo, a joint venture channel with
DIC Entertainment (DIC) and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises. Earlier
this year, NBCU also announced the acquisition of a share in NDTV Networks in
India, its first entertainment presence in that market.
