New Shows Launch on CME’s Nova Cinema and TV Markiza

HAMILTON, March 27: Central
European Media Enterprises’s (CME) Czech film channel Nova Cinema and Slovakian
network TV Markiza are debuting four new shows: The Hollywood Reporter, The Red Carpet Reporter, Night of Film Chances and City of Shadows.

The newly launched Nova
Cinema will roll out The Hollywood Reporter, a magazine program that provides the latest
information on events in the film and television industries, as well as The
Red Carpet Reporter
, a 30-minute
magazine show which takes viewers behind the scenes in Hollywood and dishes up
news on what film stars are doing to stay at the top. The third program
launching on Nova Cinema is Night of Film Chances, dedicated to films made by students of Czech and
Slovak film schools. Now in its third season, Night of Film Chances gives young Czech and Slovak film school students
a chance to present their work to the public.

Meanwhile in Slovakia, TV
Markiza is set to broadcast the new 10×1-hour crime series City of Shadows, which is based on real crimes recorded in police
archives. It is the first original Slovak crime series in the country since the
1970s.

“I am extremely pleased
that our new channel Nova Cinema, launched only on December 1, 2007, has
already built its regular and loyal audience base,” commented Petr Dvorak, the
general director of TV Nova. “The programming schedule of this film channel has
been designed so as to provide a large audience but mostly young viewers with
what they find appealing and amusing. Additionally, we strive to expand our
programming offer further as the three new programs, launched this March, only
attest to. We are happy we are attracting younger audience and we will continue
to pursue this strategy. For the future it is Nova Cinema’s ambition to bring
local programs to its audience.”
