Production Underway on New Eco Series for Discovery’s Planet Green

SILVER SPRING, December 12: Planet Green, the new 24/7
eco-lifestyle network from Discovery Communications that is set to launch in
2008, has begun production on the original prime-time series Wa$ted!

Hosted by Annabelle Gurwitch, who has served as host for
TBS’s Dinner and a Movie, the 10-part
series sets out to turn energy and waste savings into cash for households. Each
week, Gurwitch and "green" handyman Holter Graham will evaluate a
household’s waste, energy, water and transportation consumption and confront
them with the results. The team will provide suggestions and recommendations to
reduce the household’s consumption and waste, and gives them three weeks to
lower its consumption. All improvements in energy efficiency and waste
reduction are awarded to the households dollar for dollar for the recognized
savings in this period. As an added bonus, Planet Green multiplies those
savings by the projected savings for the year per household as a cash bonus for
all participants.

For the past two years, Gurwitch has interviewed scientists,
activists and environmentalists on various environmental issues for her NPR
program, Day to Day. Currently, Gurwitch writes, directs and narrates a
webisode series entitled My Big Fat Environmental Crisis for the recently launched website The Daily Green.
Her co-host, Holter Graham, is a self-professed environmentalist, whose New
York home has been running solely on alternative energy for three years.

WA$TED! is produced
for Planet Green by Lion Television. Tony Tackaberry and Allison Corn are
executive producers, while Timothy Kuryak serves as executive producer for
Planet Green. The series was created by Carthew Neal of Fumes TV in New
Zealand.
