ohm:tv Picks Up RTL II’s
Welcome to the Neighborhood

COLOGNE, November 20:
German sales and distribution outfit ohm:tv has secured the distribution rights
for RTL II’s Welcome to the Neighborhood format.

ohm:tv and RTL II will
jointly distribute the RTL II format in Europe, the Middle East and South
Africa. Welcome to the Neighborhood,
which debuted on RTL II in September to above-average ratings, has recently
been optioned to Spanish media company Grupo Z’s ONTV as well.

The format chronicles
competing families on a journey to win their dream house. Over the course of
five weeks, a group of neighbors test five different families with diverse
backgrounds to see if they fit into their neighborhood. The reward at the end
is a detached house in a prime location with scenic views for the winning
family.

Hans Spielthenner, the
managing director for ohm:tv, commented: “We are delighted to add Welcome to
the Neighborhood
to our format
catalogue. The format has generated a lot of controversy in Germany and the
show offers a real picture of today’s society—all covered in the micro
cosmos of a neighborhood. After the success on RTL II, and having just secured
an option in Spain with ONTV, we strongly believe that this innovative show has
strong potential in other territories as well.”
