SPTI to Launch SET, Animax in Africa

LONDON, November 1: Sony Pictures Television International
(SPTI) will roll out the general entertainment channel Sony Entertainment
Television (SET) and the anime channel Animax in Africa this month on MultiChoice’s
digital pay-TV satellite platform DStv.

Launching with the tagline 100% Entertainment,” SET will target viewers aged 15 to 49. Its programming
will come from a mix of genres, including movies such as Charlie’s Angels and A Knight’s Tale as well as series like Rescue Me, The Shield and Boondocks. It is currently seen across 100 countries, reaching
more than 70 million households and broadcast in three languages. The channel
will make its debut in Africa on November 2.

Touting the tagline “Open A New World,” Animax offers viewers anime from
around the globe, including Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. and Samurai 7. The channel is primarily targeted at the 15-to-29
demographic, and is already available in Asia and Latin America. Animax
currently airs 24 hours a day in 36 million homes in 38 countries and in 11
languages.

be launching both SET and Animax channels in Africa, joining an increasingly
