Peace Arch Expands Slate

TORONTO, October 10: Peace
Arch Entertainment Group has expanded its catalogue, taking on the worldwide
rights to the dark comedy The Babysitters and the recently completed crime drama Guns.

The Babysitters stars Katherine Waterston (Michael Clayton) alongside John Leguizamo and Cynthia Nixon.
Waterston plays a teenage girl who turns her babysitting operation into a
call-girl ring for married men after a tryst with one of her customers, played
by Leguizamo. Peace Arch will release the film theatrically in the U.S. and
Canada in the spring of 2008.

“As we continue to expand
our direct distribution operation in the United States and Canada, the
acquisition of top quality completed films like The Babysitters is becoming a meaningful aspect of our business
model,” said John Flock, the president and COO of Peace Arch Entertainment Group.
“Our ability to license these films to overseas distributors through our
industry-leading international sales team, coupled with our growing direct
distribution capabilities in North America, not only provides a lucrative new
source of revenue for our company, but has also made us an exciting new
alternative for independent filmmakers seeking worldwide exposure for their
projects.”

Guns, meanwhile, is a four-hour mini-series that tells
the story of four families caught up in illegal gun trafficking and the effect
it has on their lives. Produced by Jennifer Holness and directed by Sudz
Sutherland, Guns stars Elisha
Cuthbert (24), Colm Feore (Chicago), Lyriq Bent (Saw II, III, IV), Shawn Doyle (Don’t Say A Word) and Gregory Smith (Everwood). The mini-series is scheduled to air on CBC in
the fall of 2008.

“We are very pleased to be
able to offer our international broadcasters and licensees another major event
mini-series through the acquisition of Guns,” said Flock. “Like The Tudors, Guns
exemplifies the type of highly sought after television programming that Peace
Arch will continue bringing to worldwide markets either through acquisitions,
in-house production or international co-productions.”
