CTV Bags So You Think You Can Dance

CANNES, October 10: CTV
has reached an agreement with 19 Entertainment and dick clark productions for a Canadian version of So
You Think You Can Dance.

The deal was completed in
Cannes at MIPCOM yesterday between Susanne Boyce, the president of creative,
content and channels at CTV Inc. and 19 Entertainment's Simon Fuller, the
creator of the series. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

So You Think You Can
Dance
, created by Simon Fuller and
Nigel Lythgoe, premiered in 2005. The hit FOX series has also been licensed as
a format into Norway, Denmark, Greece, Turkey and Israel. Original versions of
the series are also currently being produced in Australia, Poland and Malaysia
and soon in Scandinavia as well. The American edition was a top-three summer
series on CTV with an average audience of 1.25 million viewers.

"The joy of dance is
at the center of So You Think You Can Dance Canada," said Boyce. "But it's also about the
passion and energy of young dancers from across Canada and their dreams to
excel in this art form."

Fuller added: “We have a
simple formula that kids and TV audiences love. The franchise extends beyond
just the TV show and includes a 50-city, sold out tour every year, including a
yearly stop in Toronto. I have had a fabulous relationship with CTV over the
years with a number of hit shows including Canadian Idol and American Idol. I am hoping that our partnership continues for
many more years to come."
