AXN Passes 1-Million Subscriber Mark in German-Speaking Europe

LONDON, May 3: Sony Pictures
Television International’s AXN brand has passed the 1-million subscriber mark
in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

With a slate that includes series like The Shield, Homicide and Highlander; reality
shows including Amazing Race and Survivor; local productions such as World Rally Championship; and a range of feature films, AXN is available via cable through KDG and
Unity Media and through other distributors over satellite, IPTV and
mobile.

Announcing the news, Ross Hair, the senior VP of
international networks at SPTI, noted: “The German digital pay-TV market is one
of the most challenging in Europe. Today’s announcement marks an important
milestone for AXN in German-speaking territories. Passing the 1-million
subscriber mark provides us with a firm foundation on which to build our
channels business in the region.”
