TVFI, CNC Release Report on French Television

PARIS, April 16: TV France International and CNC have
published their sixth survey of French TV content, evaluating the performance
of 160 titles airing on 45 channels in four key European markets: Germany,
Spain, Italy and the U.K., as well as in Quebec, Canada.

Between September 2005 and June 2006, more than 130
million television viewers tuned in to French programs in those markets, a 10
percent increase compared to the previous season.

Among the top-performing shows were Becoming A Man,
which achieved a 29-percent market share in Spain, and Code Lyoko, which
registered an 11.9-percent share in Canada. Totally Spies had
significant shares in all four European countries. The market share for Asterix
vs Caesar
was 34.4 percent in Italy. In Germany, The New
Adventures of Lucky Luke
reached 30.3 percent and in Canada Tintin and the
Lake of Sharks
reached 36.1 percent.

The German market was particularly receptive to French
productions: 42 million viewers watched the 39 programs during the period under
study. Animation performed particularly well with shows like Trotro on KI.KA
and Louie on Super RTL. In Spain, 31 French programs aired on
six national Spanish broadcasters and six regional channels, with a total of 18
million viewers. Prime-time documentaries fared especially well, among them Karakoum
Secrets
. In Italy, top-performing French titles included 15 Love, Cordier,
Judge and Cop, Dalida
and Julie, Chevalier de Maupin. In the
U.K., 10 million viewers tuned into the 22 French shows under study, among them
Pitt & Kantrop and Robotboy. In Quebec, 32 French shows
aired during the period, with top performers like Everybody Talks About.
