UPC Netherlands Launches VOD Service

AMSTERDAM, March 30:
Starting April 16, UPC Netherlands will be offering video on demand for digital
TV, the first such service in the Dutch market.

UPC currently offers a
limited near-video-on-demand (NVOD) service, where a small number of films can
be watched at fixed times. Real video on demand will make it possible to choose
from a wide collection of films, which can be played at any time and can be
paused or fast-forwarded.

The VOD service will start
with a selection of 35 recent films and a library of 200 films. UPC will also
offer 250 hours of television programs and series on an SVOD basis, including
75 hours of children’s programming such as Teletubbies, Tweenies and Miffy and Friends. UPC will also offer a wide choice of television
programs free of charge.

In the Netherlands, UPC
serves 2.2 million television customers (502,000 digital cable, more than
566,000 broadband Internet customers and 389,000 telephony customers, as at the
end of 2006). UPC Nederland is a subsidiary of Liberty Global, Inc.
