AMC on Board Sky/Granada Prisoner Remake

NEW YORK, December 20: The Rainbow Media-owned cable network
AMC has come on as a partner on the remake of the classic 1960s British series The
Prisoner, which Sky One commissioned from
Granada earlier this year.

The series is the network’s first original science fiction
production. It puts a new spin on the classic, in which Patrick McGoohan’s
character was abducted after resigning from a top-secret government position
and relocated to a sinister village where nothing was as it seemed. The remake
is set to receive its worldwide premiere in January 2008, with production
scheduled to begin in spring 2007.
