Slings & Arrows Takes Gemini for Best Drama

RICHMOND, November 6: The 21st Annual Broadcast Gala Awards
Show over the weekend named Slings & Arrows, from Rhombus Media, as best dramatic series, while Muse
Entertainment’s Human Trafficking
won the mini-series category and Vérité Films Inc. and 335 Productions’ Corner
Gas picked up the best comedy award.

The Donald Brittain Award for best social/political
documentary went to House Calls, from
the National Film Board of Canada. Best director in a drama went to Tim Southam
for One Dead Indian, which also
scored awards for Andrew Wreggitt and High Graham in the dramatic writing
category. For best performance in a dramatic program or mini-series, the
winners were Tom McCamus for Waking Up Wally: The Walter Gretzky
Story and Wendy Crewson for The
Man Who Lost Himself. Slings
& Arrows picked up awards for Mark
McKinney and Martha Burns in the performance categories for a continuing
leading dramatic role.
