Nutty Professor Set for Animated Treatment

VANCOUVER/LOS ANGELES, August 8: The Weinstein Company (TWC)
has acquired the rights to produce an animated version of The Nutty
Professor that will be distributed
direct-to-video in the U.S. by Genius Products and animated by Mainframe
Entertainment.

Jerry Lewis, who created, directed and starred in the
original film, will lend his voice to the project, which he is executive
producing. The film is being written by Evan Spiliotopoulos. Mainframe is
producing and animating, and George Paige is attached to produce.

The animated version of Nutty Professor will be a younger, modern-day take on the story,
focusing on Julius Kelp's college-aged nerdy grandson who takes the same
formula his grandfather took and unleashes an ultra-cool but comically
destructive alter-ego.
