Winners Announced for Monte Carlo TV Festival

MONTE CARLO, July 5: At a star-studded event over the
weekend during the 46th Monte Carlo Television Festival, attended by
Geena Davis, Patricia Arquette, Ellen Pompeo and Dennis Haysbert, among others,
the winners were announced for the annual Golden Nymph awards.

In the International TV Audience Awards, presented with
Eurodata TV Worldwide, Desperate Housewives
took the best comedy category, while best drama went to CSI and best telenovela/soap opera was given to The
Bold and the Beautiful
.

In the comedy series category, Chris Langham won best actor
for The Thick of It, and Ashley Jensen
took best actress for her role in Extras. Philip Voges and Alban Rehnitz were named best European producers for
Turkish for Beginners, while best
international producer went to the team behind Entourage.

In drama, the performance categories went to Kiefer
Sutherland for 24 and Lesley Sharp for Afterlife. Best European producer went to Murray Ferguson,
also for Afterlife, while the
team behind 24 took the best
international producer award.

For mini-series, Benedict Cumberbatch was named best actor
for To the Ends of the Earth and Helen
Mirren took best actress for Elizabeth I. Apocripha: Music for S. Peter & S. Paul from Russia was named best mini-series.

In the TV movies category, France’s Mademoiselle Gigi was named best television film. Performance
categories were taken by Juli Mira for Electroshock and Juliette Lamboley for Mademoiselle
Gigi.

The night’s other winners included Children of Darfur, African School, The Tsunami Generation,
Framed—A Satanic Miscarriage of Justice, Living with AIDS, Magnificent 7 and Stolen Eyes, among
others.
