Global Streaming Revenues Surpass $150 Billion

Global streaming subscription revenues grew by 14 percent in 2025, reaching a total of $157.1 billion, according to Ampere Analysis, which predicts this number will surpass $200 billion by 2030.

The total has tripled in just five years. It surpassed $50 billion back in 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The U.S. remains the largest driver of the sector, accounting for 50 percent of global streaming subscription revenues in 2025. Netflix is the largest contributor within the U.S. market, with revenues up by 14 percent in 2025.

Ad-tier subscriptions are driving the next phase of expansion in crowded markets such as North America and Western Europe. The share of total revenues from ad-supported tiers has risen from less than 5 percent in 2020 to 28 percent in 2025.

Including advertising revenues, streaming services generated $177 billion globally in 2025. As ad-tier subscriptions continue to grow, advertising is expected to add a further $42 billion in annual revenues by 2030.

“As the streaming market matures, the emphasis is no longer on pure subscriber growth but on extracting greater value from existing audiences,” said Lauren Liversedge, senior analyst at Ampere Analysis. “Price optimization and the rise of ad-supported tiers are driving revenue growth, particularly in the most competitive markets.”
