Germaine Sweet Becomes Head of International Sales at PBS Distribution

Germaine Sweet is assuming an expanded role at PBS Distribution as head of content acquisitions and sales, taking over for Joe Barrett as he prepares to retire at the end of March.

Sweet has been with PBS Distribution for more than nine years. She most recently served as managing director, developing and executing on PBS Distribution’s drama investment strategy. She will continue in that capacity while taking on leadership of international program sales.

Prior to joining PBS Distribution, Sweet served as senior VP of global content sales and operations at National Geographic Channels, where she led the global sales team and played a key role in merging Fox International Channels’ original content to create one of the world’s largest non-scripted portfolios.

“Our partners and clients are in very good hands with Germaine,” Barrett said. “She has a deep understanding of both our content and the international marketplace, and I’m confident she will continue to build on the strong foundations our team has created.”

“PBS Distribution has a world-class catalog and strong global partnerships, and I look forward to strengthening our international reach while supporting our producers and partners worldwide,” Sweet commented.

Andrea Downing, president of PBS Distribution, added, “We’re lucky to have someone with Germaine’s extensive knowledge of the international marketplace lead our sales team into the future. Her experience, leadership style and understanding of our mission make her the ideal person to step into this expanded role.”
