Creator Economy Takes Center Stage at MIPCOM

MIPCOM Cannes has unveiled a speaker lineup that places developments in the creator economy center stage, with the likes of Dhar Mann, YouTube’s Pedro Pina and ESHAP’s Evan Shapiro slated to participate.

“The creator economy marks the biggest generational shift MIPCOM has ever seen,” said Lucy Smith, director of MIPCOM Cannes. “It is no longer emerging—it’s arrived, signaling a new era of storytelling, distribution and monetization. Everything we are staging this year has the singular focus of bringing together mainstream media and the creator economy.”

Representatives from Snapchat, Samsung TV Plus, TikTok, TUBI and Luma AI will also be on hand alongside speakers from production and distribution majors like All3Media, Banijay, BBC Studios, Beta Film, Disney, Fifth Season, Fox Entertainment Global, Fremantle, Global Agency, ITV Studios, Lionsgate, Mediawan, Mediapro Studios, Nippon TV, Paramount Global Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. Discovery and ZDF Studios.

All segments of the event will touch on the creator economy, including via meeting spaces, networking events and specialist summits. YouTube’s presence will include a dedicated space, daily workshops and speaker sessions, with Pina, VP for YouTube EMEA, and Jasmine Dawson, senior VP for digital at BBC Studios, sitting down for a conversation with Shapiro on the first day of the market.

The Producers Hub is being rebranded as the MIP Creative Hub, serving as a meeting point for creators, digital studios and brands all week. The week will also include the first international edition of the BrandStorytelling Summit, an AI summit within the MIP Innovation Lab and an International Drama Co-Production Summit. MIPJunior returns the weekend before, this time at the Palais des Festivals.

Keynotes include Robbie Brenner, president of Mattel Studios and chief content officer with Josh Silverman, the company’s chief franchise officer; Kim Miller Olko, Toys“R”Us CMO and president of Toys“R”Us Studios; Elisabeth d’Arvieu, Mediawan Pictures CEO; and Marco Bassetti, CEO, Banijay Entertainment & Banijay Live.

“Bridging the worlds of TV, tech, and creator-led entertainment, this year’s edition of MIPCOM Cannes promises to be more vibrant, diverse, future-facing and productive than ever before,” Smith added.
