Kew Media Group has reached a deal to pick up a stake in London-based Awesome Media & Entertainment, founded by author, screenwriter and executive producer Jeff Norton.

The firm was initially founded to develop content around Norton’s novels and has since expanded into original IP. In addition to kids’ and family projects the company is moving into prime-time drama, with a slate that includes Woodland, about the search for the missing grandson of a literary icon; Cortex, a high-tech police procedural; and Expat, a contemporary drama in development with Monumental Television.

On the kids’ side, meanwhile, Awesome is co-developing Stomp School with Cloth Cat Animation, based on Norton and Leo Antolini’s debut picture book.

Steven Silver, founder and CEO of Kew Media Group, noted, “Jeff (Norton) is an amazing talent. Under the Awesome banner, he has generated the most extraordinary slate of content and we are thrilled he chose Kew as his partner.”

Norton added, “This partnership with Kew gives Awesome the resources to scale up into a world-class, creatively-driven IP and production company. I’m looking forward to continuing my obsession with creating and developing the world’s most impactful scripted stories and bringing them to the global campfire that is modern television.”
