International Digital Emmy Nominees & Pioneer Prize Recipient Announced

NEW YORK: The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has unveiled the 12 nominees for this year's International Digital Emmy Awards, and has named YouTube as the recipient of the Pioneer Prize.

In the category Digital Program: Children & Young People the nominees are Malhação (Young Hearts) from Brazil, Shujazz.FM Reloaded from Kenya, Max & Billy's Drill Machine Girl from the Netherlands and Time Tremors. The Digital Program: Fiction contenders are Japan's Real Escape Game TV, Collider from Portugal, #7DaysLater from Australia and Brazil's Latitudes. The four nominated programs in the Digital Program: Non-Fiction group are Rising Star from Israel, Perfect Storms Interactive from Canada, D-Day As it Happens from the U.K. and Singapore's WomenTalk TV.

The International Academy will present the 2014 Pioneer Prize to YouTube for its innovative contributions to the field of digital entertainment. Alex Carloss, the head of entertainment at YouTube, will accept on behalf of the company.

“This year’s nominated programs represent every inhabited continent on earth,” said Bruce L. Paisner, the International Academy's president and CEO. “How fitting that we are presenting our 2014 Pioneer Prize to YouTube, a major agent of growth and distribution of digital content throughout the world since its creation in 2005.”

The nominated programs will be showcased at MIPCube during a special session. The awards will be presented on Monday, April 7, at MIPTV in Cannes.
