Winners Named for 41st International Emmy Awards

NEW YORK: Last night's International Emmy Awards saw winners representing six countries, with ten Emmy statues presented and two special awards given.

The winners hail from Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, South Korea and the U.K.

Brazil's Fernanda Montenegro won for best actress for TV Globo's Sweet Mother. Sean Bean won for best actor for his role in Accused, a production from RSJ Films in the U.K.

Another win for the U.K., Moone Boy was named best comedy, while France's Les Revenants (The Returned) was chosen as best drama. TV Globo scored another International Emmy win for best telenovela for Side by Side. From Germany, A Day for a Miracle took the award for best TV movie/mini-series.

There was a tie for the top arts program, with statues going to the U.K.'s Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender and South Korea's Hello?! Orchestra. 5 Broken Cameras, a French production, was named best documentary. In non-scripted entertainment, Go Back to Where You Came From (series two), from Australia's SBS and Cordell Jigsaw Productions, was the night's winner.

In addition to the ten International Emmy Award-winning programs, there were two special awards given out last night. Zachary Quinto presented the Founders Award to writer/director J.J. Abrams. The Directorate Award was presented by world heavyweight boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko to Anke Schäferkordt, co-CEO of RTL Group.

John Oliver hosted the evening's festivities.
