NEW YORK: Bruno Wu’s Seven Stars Media has sealed a deal to distribute content from iN DEMAND in China, while also delivering Chinese-language movies to cable VOD platforms across the U.S.

Wu’s Seven Stars Media was created to develop, aggregate and distribute films and TV content in Asia and North America. The deal makes Seven Stars content available on the U.S. cable VOD systems that iN DEMAND supplies, targeting some 4-million-plus Chinese Americans. In China, meanwhile, Seven Stars will distribute iN DEMAND content via branded blocks on MSOs reaching some 80 million homes, as well as through OTT, IPTV and online systems.

“The marketplace in China for cable programming holds tremendous promise,” said Bob Benya, the president and CEO of iN DEMAND. “With nearly 200 million cable TV households—of which 70 million are expected to be VOD-enabled within two years—we are laying the groundwork to provide a range of entertainment to China’s growing TV viewer base. We are thrilled to be embarking on our international expansion with Bruno Wu’s Seven Stars, one of the most entrepreneurial and innovative media entities in China.”

Wu added, “iN DEMAND has an impressive and long-standing record as the best in the business of content aggregation and preparation. They have the relationships, industry knowledge, creativity and technical proficiency to help us grow our entertainment offerings to Chinese viewers.”
