NEW YORK: Sundance Channel is to celebrate the independent filmmaker Joe Swanberg with a five-movie marathon airing December 17 on channels across Europe and Asia.

Sundance Showcase: Joe Swanberg will feature three films written, produced, directed by and starring Swanberg. The films are Uncle Kent, Kissing on the Mouth and LOL. In addition, Nights and Weekends, co-directed by and co-starring Swanberg and Greta Gerwig, will air, as well as The Mountain, the River and the Road, a feature directed by Michael Harring, co-starring Swanberg. The films center on love, loneliness and longing in the tech generation.

“We’re thrilled to showcase the entertaining and deeply personal work of Joe Swanberg on Sundance Channel internationally next month,” commented Sally Habbershaw, the VP of scheduling, acquisitions and promotions for AMC/Sundance Channel Global. “As one of the leading talents of independent cinema, Joe’s films explore the ups and downs of modern relationships and the demands of adulthood with uncanny frankness. We will continue to highlight the emerging voices of indie film on Sundance Channel, along with our growing library of outstanding documentaries and high-quality original TV series.”
