Jake Gyllenhaal to Guest Star on Man vs. Wild

SILVER SPRING: All-new episodes of Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild are slated to roll out starting July 11, featuring actor Jake Gyllenhaal joining host Bear Grylls for an expedition in Iceland.

The new episodes kick off July 11 at 9 p.m. on Discovery. Over the course of six episodes, Grylls will travel to remote parts of Iceland in blizzard conditions, New Zealand’s South and North Islands, and the Utah badlands. A special compilation episode will mix never-before-seen challenges and behind-the-scenes footage from the season.

Also shown this season, Gyllenhaal and Grylls traveling together for two days to an Icelandic landscape dominated by mountains, huge glaciers and some of Europe’s most active volcanoes. "For me, it’s all about discovery," said Gyllenhaal. Bear commented of the experience, "The wild is always very revealing—not only physically but mentally. You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it—and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong."
