TF1 Sees 48-Percent Profit Bump

PARIS: For the first three months of 2011, TF1’s group consolidated revenues rose just 2.9 percent to 614.4 million euros, while net profit saw a 47.9-percent hike to 48.2 million euros.

The market-leading French commercial broadcasting group reported reduced ad revenues on the main TF1 channel, down 2.6 percent to 353.2 million euros. However, growth at TMC and NT1 contributed to an 11.5 percent gain in other revenues to 261.1 million euros. As such, ad revenues as a whole gained 4.1 percent to 419.4 million euros.

The French broadcasting activities delivered revenues of 499.4 million euros, a 4.1-percent increase. At the audiovisual rights segment, revenues fell by 10.5 percent to reach 29 million euros. Eurosport International delivered revenues of 84.5 million euros in the international broadcasting segment, a 0.6-percent gain.

In its 2011 outlook, TF1 says it is standing by its forecast of flat revenues for the year.
