LONDON: A host of new game-show and reality formats are going to be on offer from Sony Pictures Television’s 2waytraffic at MIPTV, alongside a slate of classic hits.

Cover Me is a weekly music-based entertainment show that has been a success in the Netherlands. From Tuvalu Media, the series watches as two musicians from different generations create new hits based on each other’s works in each episode.

Bangers & Cash, from Gogglebox Entertainment, is a factual-entertainment format. Produced for VOX by SPT Germany, the show reveals the secrets of the auto trade and how to earn cash from broken-down cars. A team of top restoration experts is tapped to assist in the process.

Second Chance Hotel is a weekly format that sets up eight unemployed participants to live in and re-open a run-down hotel. They must relaunch the hotel and earn the right to carry on working there. The one-hour format is from NiecheMedia and was recently broadcast on RTL4 in the Netherlands.

The game show Power & Brain Battle comes from NTV Japan, also behind Dragons’ Den. The series features three athletes and three sharp-thinkers paired up in teams of two. The contests all depend on team work, combining brains and brawn, as the teams battle for a big cash prize.

Returning 2waytraffic hits at MIPTV will include The Sing Off, which has been recommissioned for a third season by NBC, as well as the global hits Dragon’s Den, which has 22 local versions now broadcast in 38 territories, including recent renewals in the U.K. and Canada, and Who Wants to Be Millionaire?, licensed in more than 120 territories.
