DQE Highlights 3D Films

HYDERABAD: DQ Entertainment has a trio of 3D feature films currently in development, with one release slated for each year starting in 2012.

The Jungle Book is set for release in 2012-13, followed by The New Adventures of Peter Pan for 2013-14 and The Phoenix and the Flying Carpet for 2014. These 3D feature films are to be produced at a global budget of $25 million to $30 million each.

The production of 3D stereoscopic feature film is a natural progression by DQE’s feature film division, DQE FEATURE. The company will further present these productions at the feature film markets in Cannes and a t the AFM, where DQE will be looking to appoint sales agents and distributors worldwide.

Tapaas Chakravarti, the producer and chairman of DQE said: "At DQE , there is enormous excitement after completion of The Prodigies 3D feature film, to move forward rapidly for the development of The Jungle Book, Peter Pan and Phoenix and the Flying Carpet 3D stereoscopic feature films. The Jungle Book feature film, slated to be released in 2012-13 in high-quality 3D stereoscopic, is a film based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic story telling and will come to life with high drama, excitement and adventure with a good measure of comedy as the courageous man­cub Mowgli learns to survive and live in the deep tropical jungles of Seonee. Shere Khan, Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa, Hathi and dozens of other lovable and dangerous animals will come alive in the Jungle Book feature film to entertain children and families alike.
The New Adventures of Peter Pan and The Phoenix and the Flying Carpet are scheduled for development and production ­ targeting 2013 and 2014 for global release.”
