Zodiak & Magic Elves to Produce Key Party

LONDON: Zodiak Rights has secured a deal between Zodiak Media Group’s Holland-based Palm Plus and U.S. producer Magical Elves to co-develop a new format, Key Party, for the Dutch market.

The format, which will be presented to Dutch broadcasters in the coming weeks, takes its name from the 1970s-era key parties where couples swapped partners by choosing another’s house key from a bowl. In the new version, the key-swapping results in a participant spending the day remodeling a room of a new partner’s house, while someone else does the same with their partner.

Ilan Astrug, the head of format acquisitions for Zodiak Rights in North America, and J.C. Mills, the head of acquisitions, said: “Now that Zodiak Rights is part of a global production company, it is our goal to connect talented U.S. format producers, like Magical Elves, to Zodiak Media Group producers around the globe. Palm Plus felt like a natural fit to take this original format to the next stage and we are sure Key Party will find a home in Holland and thereafter internationally. We are hopeful that this collaboration will be the first of many.”
