USA Network Names SVP for Alternative Programming

LOS ANGELES: Heather Olander is set to join USA Network as senior VP of alternative programming, after having most recently served as VP of programming and development for CBS Television Distribution.

Olander will oversee all USA Network alternative development and productions. She reports to Jeff Wachtel, the president of USA original programming and co-head of original content. At CBS Television Distribution, Olander was involved with developing new syndicated shows along with overseeing first-run strips. During a previous tenure at MTV, Olander managed the development and production of prime-time and daytime series.

"One way we are building our original programming portfolio is by pushing out into new genres to complement the success we’ve enjoyed in scripted one hours," said Wachtel. "As we open up to non-scripted programming, we are very lucky to have attracted such a talented, energizing and experienced exec as Heather to our creative team."
