MONTREAL: Chantal Bowen has been tapped to succeed Caroline Fortier as executive director of the Youth Media Alliance (YMA) in Canada.

Fortier is exiting the organization after 12 years. Bowen was formerly with the National Film Board of Canada, where she produced documentaries in French and English. Since leaving the NFB, she has worked as a freelance producer for a variety of English and French-language production companies throughout Canada.

The YMA works to improve the quality of content produced for Canadian kids and teens through research, government lobbying and training workshops and seminars. It also organizes special events such as the Children, Youth & Media and Média-Jeunes conferences.
