NBCU Q4 Profit Up 38 Percent

NEW YORK: On revenues that gained 12 percent to $4.76 billion in the first quarter, NBC Universal saw its profits rise by 38 percent to $830 million.

For the full year, meanwhile, revenues were up by 9 percent to $16.9 billion, delivering a stable profit of $2.26 billion.

The results were released by GE, which itself saw its consolidated net earnings rise by 51 percent to $4.5 billion in the fourth quarter, and by 6 percent to $11.64 billion for the full year. GE is in the midst of restructuring its ownership of NBCU, with the sale of a 51-percent stake to Comcast on track to close by the end of this month, after regulatory approval was granted this week.
