TOKYO: Sony’s VOD service powered by Qriocity, delivering movie content directly to network-enabled BRAVIA TV sets, will launch in Japan this month.

Video On Demand powered by Qriocity delivers access to movies from NBC Universal International Television Distribution, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment. It rolled out last year in the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K.

In addition to Hollywood movies, the Japanese service will offer select local animation titles with early window exclusivity, as well as popular movies. Rental prices for HD content will range from 500-1000 yen while those for SD content will range from 350-700 yen.
