SÃO PAULO: Globo TV International has closed its first deal on Sound & Fury, licensing the mini-series from Fernando Meirelles to SVT in Sweden.

The dramedy, a partnership between TV Globo and Meirelles’ O2 Filmes, will air on STV2. It goes behind the scenes of a fictional Shakespearean theater company that struggles to find a balance between its artistic integrity and filling the seats with patrons.

“This sale represents our return to the Scandinavian market," said Raphael Corrêa Netto, the head of sales at Globo TV International. "It’s proof that our portfolio diversification strategy works and lets us take our products even further into markets that aren’t traditional buyers of telenovelas, and which are looking for quality products to include in their programming grids."

Another Globo/Meirelles collaboration, City of Men (based on the acclaimed feature City of God), has sold to markets like Germany, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Equador, Scotland, the U.S, Finland, France, Greece, the U.K., Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mozambique, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and Venezuela.
