LONDON: LIVING has made its first commission for a scripted comedy, Gayle Tuesday, an hour-long pilot produced by Black Orchid Productions.

Starring Brenda Gilhooly as Gayle Tuesday, the pilot is filmed in a documentary style, following the former faux Page Three girl as she attempts a comeback onto the world of British showbiz. The show mixes scripted and improvised material. Guest cameos in the pilot include Harry Hill (who also script edited the pilot), Heston Blumenthal, Ainsley Harriot, Toyah Wilcox, Paul O’Grady, Louie Spence and Hollyoaks star Roxanne McKee.

LIVING TV Group’s head of commissioning, Mark Sammon, said: “Gayle is back! And where else would she want to be than on LIVING, the U.K.’s top celebrity channel. We know that LIVING’s young audience love scripted comedy on the channel, like U.S. hit Cougar Town, so we’re very excited to have made our first commissioning step into this genre and to have secured the services of such a great comedy writer and performer in Brenda.”

Black Orchid Productions’ producer Pete Ward added: “Gayle Tuesday is a unique character who is unashamedly enthusiastic about the world of celebrity. It is the first scripted comedy for LIVING, and we are delighted to be at the forefront of that.”
